I, the founder of KarshakSeva came from an agriculture family, after years of work experience on
government projects like NULM, CWC, in early 2017 i have realized that in agriculture there are
many issues which need to be addressed however very few NGO/ People only working on those to
sort out.
In those all problems i felt marketing is one of the big challenges which need to be addressed on
priority, so i have met thousands of farmers and buyers to understand the problems which they are
facing and visited most of the agriculture markets to know more about on trade process in those
markets.
It took around 2 years for me to collect and process the information and made myself ready to put the
legs in the big shoes. In 2019, the day came to prove myself by addressing a complex situation i.e.,
Nizamabad (located in Telangana state) farmers issue which drags the nation’s attention.
Nizamabad is a located in Telangana state and the farmers in this district contributing around 4% of the world turmeric production but they are failed to get fair price for the produce. To express their situation, around 1000 farmers tried to contest as MP candidates on Sri Narendra Modi Ji from Varanasi.
I strongly believe that the opportunities come from crisis so I would like to create my opportunity from this crisis and started “KarshakSeva” and took this issue as a pilot project to address. Of course, my family background also acts as a fuel to raise the fire in me and accept this as a challenge.
Soon after I have formed a team with the enthusiastic, likeminded people and started operations in Nizamabad. I knew that it is not possible for me to buy the product more than market price, but looking for a plan to reduce the cost of production. So, KarshakSeva team have visited each village in Nizamabad, met more than 10k farmers to know the process from soil preparation, sowing to storage and came to conclusion with a solution.
KarshakSeva team visited many villages in Balasore and met farmers to understand their issues in farming. i.e., Odisha state government procuring paddy from registered farmers through PPAs. However PPAs are procuring only up to 19 quintals from each farmer by paying Rs 1860/- per quintal, must sell the balance in the local market with the price between Rs.900/- approx per quintal which is very less. So KarshakSeva team did a study on local market and realized that Burdwan, located in West Bengal have around 530 rice mills, in that karshakSeva tied up with 50+ millers who as bulk requirement and open a green channel between the farmers and millers so that the farmers sold their production to the millers with the price Rs 1450/- per quintal and benefited with up to Rs. 400/- per each quintal.
